Dutoit Street, Mary Perry Stone (1909-2007) was a prolific artist who produced more than 50 social-protest murals during her lifetime. She addressed social injustice and anti-war sentiment through her art. She actively opposed U.S. involvement in war. Mary believed that art is what makes us uniquely human and hoped that someday the messages in art would be more widely respected. She saw art as the perfect language to motivate people to make the world a better place. What makes her work unique is the fact that she refused to commercialize her art. She painted to express her feelings about the need for social change. In honor of her devotion to peace and social justice the Missing Peace Art Space is dedicating space in the gallery specifically to the work of Mary Perry Stone. Aside from being a space to exhibit her art it will serve as a space to recognize women artists past & present from around the world who dedicated their work to peace. April 17 ~ Mike Dugan's Men Fake Foreplay, Victoria Theatre 138 N Main St. 7:30 p.m. A simple look at "foreplay" shifts into a hilariously funny and refreshingly original tour of the male psyche as Emmy Award-winning writer and Tonight Show comedian Mike Dugan takes unflinching comedic aim at the cultural influences that shape a man’s character. Delivered in a style The Scotsman describes as "Woody Allen meets Jimmy Stewart," Dugan's observations reveal devastatingly accurate secrets about the male thought process that most men might be happier kept quiet. His approach is more Magellan than Benedict Arnold however, and his exploration of men’s relationships with women is a surprisingly compassionate and ultimately hopeful assessment of the trials and errors encountered along the road to becoming a man in today’s "boys will be boys" world.
